Past
Siebren was born upon a world where man and supernatural races lived side by side. He was born as one---or rather two--of these supernatural beings. His mother had been a vampire. Upon Kaastis vampires weren't cursed beings that turned into pile of ash if they stepped into the sun. In fact, many greatly enjoyed the feel of the sun's rays upon their skin. Yes, they drink blood and they aged at such a reduced rate that they were regarded as immortal. However, their bite would not transform one into one of their kind. The only way one could be one was to be born one. His mother was the youngest daughter of the Archon of one of the many vampire clans. She was an overly adventurous child with an extreme rebellious streak that often had her at odds with her father. It was this free-spirited nature of hers that had her falling in love with a lowly hunter of another clan. The pair were so in love that they decided to ask both their clans permission to marry.
The hunter's clan were overjoyed with this news and gladly granted the couple their blessing, believing that they might finally put an end to the animosity that had existed between the two clans for quite some time. The clan of Siebren's mother saw it within a different light. They found the idea that a member of one of the lowest position marrying the daughter of an Archon to be beyond insulting, and as a result a fight broke out between the two. Many died--including the hunter--in the ensuing skirmish. The two clans went their separate was with renewed disdain for each other. The hunter, however, before he had been killed had gotten Siebren's mother pregnant. Try as he might, Siebren's grandfather could not convince his mother to get rid of the child growing within her. He became so outraged by her refusal to do as he commanded that he stripped her of her status and moved her to be among the lower members of the clan. He vowed that he would have nothing to do with Siebren's mother or the monstrosity that she was determined to bring into the world.

He vowed that he would have nothing to do with Siebren's mother or the monstrosity that she was determined to bring into the world.
This vow was quickly broken upon the birth of Siebren's older brother. Upon seeing his grandson, Siebren's grandfather immediately fell in love and brought his youngest daughter back into his favor. It wasn't long after that his mother met and started an affair with a demon. These were beings renown for their violent, solitary and nomadic natures. They also had an extreme aversion to sunlight, and while it would not turn them into ash prolonged exposure would kill them, There were those who tried to encourage Siebren's mother to give the demon a wide berth because while they were certain the demon would do as his kind always did and wander off, engaging with the demon was like standing in the middle of a raging fire and asking not to be burnt. Siebren's mother did not listen to their pleas and the demon went on his way without anyone being killed, but he did leave Siebren growing within his mother's stomach. Like with Siebren's brother, Siebren's mother was being told she should get rid of the child growing within her. However, the reason was different this time.
More often than not half-demonic children went insane underneath this condition called blood-lust. They would travel the world, killing anyone they came upon until someone put them out of their misery. Siebren's mother refused to write her child as a lost cause before he was born. If her child went into this blood-lust she would deal with it. While she didn't utter the words directly many took her to be proclaiming that if her child did enter blood-lust she would do what was believed to be impossible and pull her child out of it. Some scoffed at the notion, believing that if such a thing was possible someone would have figured out the answer a long time ago. Others believed that the stubborn nature of Siebren's mother would allow her to be the one to do what had been deemed impossible. Whatever the case, Siebren was born approximately a year after his brother. It quickly became clear that he was his mother's shadow, following her everywhere she would allow and while he would be persuaded to get into mischief by his older brother he didn't like to cause his mother distress.

Around three years later, Siebren's mother gave birth to her third and final child---a daughter conceived from a relationship she had with a human king. Years passed before he discovered his child's existence and since his queen and he were unable to have children of their own they were very eager to bring Siebren's sister into their kingdom and raise her as their heir. Siebren's family weren't certain if this was something they wished to do. They adored Siebren's sister and the idea of her living someplace where they couldn't watch over her didn't settle well with them. The King and Queen invited the entire clan to stay within the castle and even offered to allow Siebren, his mother and brother to take permanent resident within the castle if they agreed to allow Siebren's sister to live with them. They agreed to check things out, but made no more promises beyond that. It didn't take them long to decided that perhaps living with the humans would be acceptable for Siebren's sister---an opinion that quickly changed after an horrific incident.
It was winter when the clan made their visit to the castle, and there was a pond behind the castle that no matter how cold it got never froze over. The clan's children were told to stay off the pond, but Siebren's brother never being one to follow the orders decided he wanted to go ice-skating. He convince Siebren to come with him, who in turn convinced their sister. An extremely easy feat as Siebren's sister followed him around in much the same manner he did their mother and wanted to do everything he did. The three siblings were having a grand time upon the pond when suddenly the ice gave way beneath the feet of Siebren's sister and she went purging into the icy water. She might have sank to the bottom and met an untimely end if Siebren hadn't managed to grab her, and while he kept her from sinking under he was unable to muster to strength to pull her out. Meanwhile, his brother quickly retrieved help. Time seemed to stretch in such a way that a minute felt like an eternity, and while Siebren could hear the panic worry around him regarding his sister's survival he could do nothing more than fall into a deep slumber for a few days.

When he awoke he found the castle in an uproar because his brother had ran away. There were several stories of what happened. Some say the words were spoken out of jealously, others out of anger over what had happened to his sister, but an older cousin told Siebren's brother that the entire clan hated him and they would never forgive him if Siebren's sister died. Siebren immediately knew where his brother was even years later he is unable to say how. Worse yet, was the overwhelming feeling that he needed to rescue his brother from something horrific. Without telling anyone, he took off running into the city streets that surrounded the castle until he found himself upon a house. He went straight into the house and was immediately greeted by the horrors that his brother had endured. The owner was amused by Siebren's entrance, believing the gods had gifted him with yet another plaything. He boasted about having the favor of the gods and all the things he was going to do to Siebren, but Siebren heard not a word. The only thing he could focus upon was his rising desire to make the one who hurt his brother pay in blood, and it wasn't long before he gave into the desire.
He killed the man, but his rage didn't end there. He wanted more blood. He wanted to bled the world dry for the pain that had been inflicted upon his brother, but before he could give into those desire he was lifted off the ground and carried out of the house. The only thing he knew at the time was these arms felt safe, and that overwhelming desire for blood died down a little. He would learn later that the one who had carried him out had been his grandfather. The clan knowing they weren't out of danger zone just yet put Siebren someplace where he could be observed in case he surrender to the blood-lust. It was a long and difficult watch, but it became clear he was in the clear. However, there was no denying that the events affected both Siebren and his brother. Siebren went from an extremely happy and outgoing child to an solemn and withdrawn one. His brother became a stickler for the rules. Neither brothers talked about what happened, but both understood why the other had adapted the personality they had.

The clan decided that they weren't going to allow Siebren's sister to be raised among the humans. The king and Queen understood their decision, and only asked that they be allowed to keep in contact with the king's daughter. The clan seeing no reason to deny this request agreed. Before the clan returned to their own lands the king and queen tells Siebren's sister that she always had a home within the castle and she could come and visit whenever she wished. Immediately upon their return, Siebren and his brother began to train how to fight and rose to be the greatest warriors of the clan. They never enter a battle without each other, and are always found fighting side by side. Siebren's brother insist on taking the killing blow, claiming that it is his duty as the eldest brother. Siebren knowing that it his guilt over failing to protect his siblings speaking doesn't argue. Their grandfather informed them one day that Siebren's brother and sister were going to get married--a decision that didn't surprise anyone as siblings were often betrothed within the clans.
Siebren's sister reject the engagement, believing that her brother only agreed to it because he had been ordered and not because he was in love with her. This sent their already delicate relationship into further turmoil, and one day when the brothers returned from battle they discovered that their sister had ran off to stay with the humans after a rather dreadful argument she had with her oldest brother. Immediately, Siebren's brother decided that he was going to drag her back and Siebren concluding that since they had never been in a fight without each other decided to come with. It didn't take them long to get where their sister was, and right away Siebren's brother demanded their sister returned home with them. She refused, claiming that her home was among the humans and the two got into an enormous argument. Siebren not wanting to see his siblings at each other's throat decided to take his sister aside. He told her that their brother loved them and his worst nightmare was something terrible happening to them that he couldn't fix. He had came extremely close to this nightmare become a reality once, and his desire to prevent it happening again made him into what he was. This was the first time Siebren spoke of what happened when they had been children, and upon hearing those words his sister asked if that was why he changed as well.
He didn't answer, only regarded her while waiting for her to make her decision. After a few moments, she agreed to come back with them. They upon their return was greeted with the most horrific sight. Their home and everyone who had lived there had been destroyed. All three stood there staring at the ruins of what had been their home for the longest moment, then Siebren's brother turned towards their sister and told her that it was all her fault. If she hadn't ran off like she had they would have been here to defend the clan and everyone they loved wouldn't be died. Siebren wasn't certain if this was true. They very well could have been slaughtered with everyone else, but before he was able to voice this opinion aloud their sister took off running. Siebren told his brother that she felt guilty enough already without him adding salt to the wound before rushing after her.

Present
Siebren heard his brother behind him, but Siebren wouldn't reach his sister before he found himself surrounded by a bright light and a strange floating sensation. There was no doubt within his mind that his siblings were experiencing the same thing. The next thing he knew he was on the ground--seriously injured like he had fallen from a great height. He drifted in and out of sleep, and somewhere along the way someone must have found him because he awoke in a soft bed and his wounds tended to. Despite the protest his body gave him, he pushed himself from the bed, determined to find his siblings. His rescuer--a beautiful woman--demanded he returned to bed. He was far from healed and he threaten to undo all her hard work. He refused, telling her that he had to find his siblings. She told him to give up any hope of seeing his siblings again. She knew exactly what happened. He was brought here from another world and that it was unlikely that his siblings had ended up in the same one, and given the endless numbers of worlds there were it was unlikely that he would find them. He should instead stay here with her, and the two of them could have a happy life together.
He refused, telling her that even if he spent eternity searching for them and never found them he wasn't going to stop looking. Sighing in frustration, but seeing he was not going to be persuaded agreed to teach him how to realm hop so he wouldn't end up in the same condition he had been in when she found him if he agreed to stay until he was completely healed. Siebren seeing the benefit of not risking serious injuries every time he world hopped agreed to the terms, and the two settled into an existence together. After awhile, it became clear she had been manipulating things in an attempt to keep him there indefinitely. Outraged, he told her that he should kill her but if he gave into that desire he would really never find his siblings before vanishing onto another world.
